while the mice are away, the cat will play....

I took off and headed to Grafton to see the Yarn Harlot on Friday night. Being that it was a late night spent with knitterly friends and the trip home was a bit of a long one, I stayed Friday night and headed back Saturday afternoon.

I returned to the house I'm cat-sitting at to find a bit of a fiber-y surprise....

it starts at the sock (bottom of the page) - see also scraps of paper that she will "hunt"

through a one room into another....

around another corner (in another room)

around yet ANOTHER corner (delicately around the ceramic piece)

back into the kitchen

crossing back over where she had already been (and around the island)

through the chairs AND the stool

around the laundry basket to the mud room.

but the action wasn't over....

the ball (green hand-dyed worsted wt yarn leftover from a sock) is now officially hers.

as she heads off to the next adventure....

As I type this she is sitting on my lap/chest and purring as though she is very proud of herself. I think she missed me.

(yet another soul overwelmed by the power of wool....)

There has been knitting, and buying and more knitting. Will update with more pictures soon.

Okay... this cat sitting thing has officially gotten out of control :-)

Good luck with the car shopping. Are you headed back down this week? I drove by the dealership last night and tried to see if the blue Subaru was there but it was too dark.

That is funny. It would never occur to me to take a picture of all that. I'd be too busy swearing and stomping around. Apparently you're a much better sport than I am.

Okay, seriously? The cat walking away with the yarn photo? That is PERFECT. And HILARIOUS. Love it!

That is too funny but please, please, please make sure she doesn't eat any of that yarn!! I lost a cat after 2 very expensive and awful surgeries to remove 'yarn" from her intestines. She didn't make the second surgery ...I use any swatching I do (few and far between) to stitch up and put some sort of elastic on for them to play with...well now for her to play with as I only have one now.

That is so funny! I love the picture of her walking away with her "kill". :)

My cats do the same thing sometimes; it can be very frustrating.

That was wonderful! Especially the final possession shot. Clearly we know who rules the roost.

So *that's* what cats do! The two I've got now don't like yarn, but the journey your yarn took explains a lot about why the cats seem to run haphazardly around the house -- there is no point to what they are doing. On the other hand, if you tied one end of a skein of yarn to me and charted my daily travels, I'm sure my activity would seem just as pointless.

Hilarious! I suspect it would have been even more entertaining to watch her while she chased it all over the house and made the giant spiderweb. :)

LOVE those photos - ESPECIALLY the walking away with yarn shot. I have to reiterate what another noter said, tho - PLEASE don't let her keep the ball of yarn; when my kitties play with the ends of my yarn, they chew & swallow - and when I catch them doing that, it's game over - TAKE THE YARN AWAY, and if you want her to play, just dangle a length in front of her...let her catch it, then take it back, truly. It's horrible what yarn can do to the insides of a cat...

Thanks for the pics, I'm now going to try to catch up on the rest of your blog!! :-)

OH, I was in Grafton Friday night, too!!!!! :-) Come see my pics - I was the short, red-haired woman with glasses and a big black honkin' camera around my neck...I was also knitting on a pink striped sock. :-)

This is hilarious. I'm glad you shared that. I'm also impressed that you didn't kill her. We allow cute creatures to get away with so much, eh???

That is probably the best photo series I've ever seen on a knit blog! I haven't laughed this hard in ages!
